THE ARTWORK

-

The artwork - Gabriella Cohen - will be exposed at the exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol which will take place in Turin at the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi from 13-10-20 to 31-01-21 and will be available for purchase and collection at the end of the exhibition.

Cellulose acetate film is used as base of the support for photographic films since the Twenties as a replacement for the highly flammable nitrate film. Andy Warhol used this kind of support in order to print his screeprints. In particular this one, dated back to 1974, represents Gabriella Cohen, one of the greatest Italian ballerinas. At the time this photograph was taken, Ms. Cohen was only 20 years old. She studied at the Scala Theater in Milan and at the Bol'šoj Theater in Moscow and started an international career collaborating with the most important dancers all over the world. It's a unique black and white photographic negative part of the Lowell Collection that was the base to the famous original screeprint of Ms. Cohen.
